Put simply, Megan Griffin is the answer to any new homeowner’s prayers. When we moved into our Edwardian semi in South East London we were confronted with an interior décor that was still marooned in the early 1980’s – drab carpets, dismal walls, and kitchens and bathrooms that would make even the most experienced home refurbisher want to throw in the towel. Sensing our despair, a friend recommended Megan’s interior design service – and what a stroke of luck that proved to be.

Not only does Megan have a real flair for design - she is up-to-date with contemporary looks and in close contact with exciting retailers - but, even more importantly, she takes time to understand her clients' own tastes and visions for their home. We never felt bullied into choices, but rather had our eyes opened to new possibilities, or were put back in touch with elegant classic solutions.

Megan provided us with a monthly update on progress and worked hard to keep us within our budget -- for example when it came to picking tiles and curtain fabric, we were given a range of choices that enabled us get the look we wanted within the parameters of our spend. Not only is Megan's artistic input invaluable, but she is also extremely capable when it comes to understanding the practical logistics of plumbing, kitchen layout and the more serious engineering problems that can crop up when rooms are extended or knocked through. She kept notes throughout meetings with our builder, took measurements and built up a good relationship with the technicians and workmen on site. It's common for builders and designers to clash, but Megan ensured that everyone was kept on side. 

Throughout the project Megan was always available to talk things through - whether on the phone, by email or in person. She was very patient, especially when we spent days dithering between wall colours and door knobs, and guided our decision-making in an effective and tactful manner. After six months of hard work by Megan, our house was transformed into a warm and stylish home -- even the darkest of rooms are now a real pleasure to be in. As inexperienced renovators we would've been at a loss without Megan's impressive professionalism and good humour. Her sage advice saved us from major mistakes on the structural front, and her designer's eye has transformed our once neglected house into a stylish, warm and ergonomically satisfying home. We wouldn't have been without her.

Megan created a space which feels unique, welcoming and stylish

We'd just bought a tenement flat in Glasgow which had been rented out for years and was looking very tired. Once we had Megan on board, we decided to tackle the kitchen. We weren't sure what to do with the kitchen recess, a dead space which made the room feel dingy. Meg suggested turning it into a walk-in pantry lined with wooden shelves and separated by glass panelled doors, which is now a joy to use and to look at! She gave us sensible advice on colours, suggesting neutral greeny greys and as a result the room looks modern and clean. She guided us through every decision from how to arrange the lighting to where to buy handmade brass handles for the cupboards, always helping us to get the best deals through her contacts with suppliers. I'm so grateful to Megan, because without her I would have ordered everything from one company, ending up with an identikit kitchen but instead she's created a space which feels unique, welcoming and stylish.
